Over Week 5 and 6 the Kaupeka Hub participated in a couple of Think, Make, Solve challenges. The first was to create a bridge. A group from each homebase have create three very different bridges, which are ready to be tested.
The second challenge was to create a geodesic dome using toothpicks and blue tack. There were a wide variety of structures created with some much stronger than others. One was even able to hold 15 maths textbooks before it collapsed!
The best part of both of these challenges was the conversations that students were having with each other and the collaboration taking place. These challenges and others that we will participate in throughout the year will help the students to grow their skills in a number of areas including design thinking and STEM fields alongside communication. collaboration, and creativity.
