Ferrymead & Bridle Path Trip

Our PBL for Term 1 focuses on NZ History with our driving question being; "how can we as writers’ effectively share New Zealand’s stories?"

To help make our NZ history more real for our students and create a deeper awareness we will be walking up the Heathcote Valley side of Bridle Path, coming down in the Gondola, and going to Ferrymead, in Week 7 on Friday 16th of March.

The day will run from 9.30am - 4.00pm with students on buses at 9am and back by 4.30pm.

Group 1 will leave school at 9.00am and be back by 3.00pm
Group 2 will leave school at 10.00am and be back by 4.30pm

The Kaupeka Team will be split into two groups depending on which time period they are focusing on as part of their PBL. Both groups will walk the Bridle Path, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. They will attend their Ferrymead session (1860's or 1950's-1960's) in the opposite time slot to their Bridle Path Walk.

The two groups will be posted on the Kaupeka Blog later this week.

We are in great need for parent help (minimum of 11 parents) for both Ferrymead and the Bridle Path walk. However, as the adult to child ratio is smaller for the Bridle Path, we will need more parents for the Bridle Path walk. This means some parents will be walking the Bridle Path twice (however, you will get the Gondola back down both ways!)

No cost is associated with being parent help on this trip.

You may either provide your own transport or come with us on the bus. We will require two emergency vehicles. Please indicate if you are happy to be one of those.

Please bring a packed lunch or money to purchase lunch from the cafe for yourself (your child will need to have a packed lunch).

If you are able to assist us with parent help, we would appreciate if you could take the time to fill out this Google Form as soon as possible -  https://goo.gl/forms/rZDjmfOs1s2zax5R2
